Poulsbo wins $358,000 in state support for Liberty Bay boardwalk and recovery center

Poulsbo council members heard that the short Washington State legislative session produced two direct appropriations benefitting the city: $258,000 for the Liberty Bay Waterfront Boardwalk and $100,000 for the North Kitsap Recovery Center.
"Representative Nance led the effort to obtain $258,000 for Paulsboro's Liberty Bay Waterfront Boardwalk," city lobbyist Brian McConaughey told the council, also thanking Representative Simmons for securing the $100,000 for the recovery center. McConaughey urged council to convey appreciation to the legislators who advanced those line items.
Mayor (chair) and other council members publicly thanked the legislators and staff who advocated for the awards. The council did not take a binding vote on these grants at the workshop; McConaughey described them as final appropriations included in the supplemental operating budget and reported that the bills had been signed by the governor.
The allocations were discussed as part of a broader legislative briefing that also outlined statewide budget maneuvers and other bills of local interest. Councilmembers framed the awards as the result of active local advocacy and encouraged continued engagement with the city’s legislative representatives.
