Board highlights Read Across America events and plans AI taskforce for schools

Board Chair Elaine Maynard‑Adams reported that Read Across America week brought storytellers and local authors into classrooms across the district and thanked the New London Education Foundation for support. She said kindergarten students at Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School received author visits and copies of books for the library.
Maynard‑Adams also said board members attended an AI training and that she would work to develop a taskforce to guide district AI rollout including policies, curriculum, and student safety measures. She said the taskforce will align future AI policy discussions and training with classroom implementation plans. The chair also noted that the New London Rotary offered to pack 10,000 shelf‑stable meal kits for the community, with half slated for donation to New London Public Schools.
