The motion, made by President Elaine Maynard-Adams and seconded by Secretary Scott Garbini, was framed as a way to make up a required professional development day while shortening the tentative student calendar: the tentative last day for students would move to Thursday, June 18 (instead of Monday, June 22), and staff would make up the PD day on June 22. For Year-Round calendar students, the tentative last day was noted as June 10 if the change is approved.
The Board noted a pre-scheduled required training that prevents the ECC at B.P. Mission from following the change; PreK programs are not required to meet the same number-of-day mandates, per discussion at the meeting.
The motion carried 6–0. Implementation details and any further adjustments to the calendar will be reflected in subsequent district communications to families and staff.
