County approves $649,491 budget for courthouse stair-landing repairs

The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 4 approved the budget for the East & West Stair Landings Project at the Cottonwood County Courthouse in Windom. Pete Clark, project manager with Adolfson & Peterson Construction, presented the figures and said the project’s total cost is approximately $649,491, not including architectural fees.
After reviewing the numbers Commissioner Tom Appel moved and Commissioner Donna Gravley seconded a motion to approve the budget and move forward; the motion passed by unanimous vote. Clark told the board, "The anticipated starting date for the project will be May 1st." The contractor team present included Jamie Oelke (Adolfson & Peterson) and Dana Hlebichuk (Widseth), who joined Clark for the presentation.
County officials said approval allows procurement and scheduling to begin; the board did not specify additional funding sources or whether architectural contracts will be included in a later action. The project will proceed through county procurement processes and is expected to begin site work in early May 2025.
