A commissioner reported meeting with transportation staff and counterparts from other counties to prepare for Region 1 Act discussions, saying Washington County and neighboring counties have banded together to assemble a coherent work plan because ODOT-provided materials lacked specificity. "This like all of what we're having to do to kind of band aid solutions is not tenable in the long run," the commissioner said, urging sustained improvement in ODOT preparation and staff support.
The county has held pre-meetings for its participants—modeled on similar SHS pre-meetings—to ensure county delegates are prepared. The commissioner said they will continue to give feedback to ODOT and are also coordinating with interim director Chris Warner and the OTC to try to improve regional processes before future meetings.
