County warns staff and public to expect slower operations amid heat and smoky air

A county official providing leadership communications briefed the board on a heat and smoke advisory, saying departments including Land Use and Transportation (LUT) and operations will implement Oregon OSHA heat and air-quality guidelines. The official said crews may be reassigned and that staff will take additional breaks, hydrate and monitor exertion levels to reduce risk.
The official warned residents and businesses that public crews may work more slowly or take more breaks and urged inquiries to be directed to staff. On activation of services, the official said the homeless-services team may activate additional inclement-weather shelters if conditions worsen. "We are unhealthy," the official said when asked about current air-quality status and cautioned sensitive individuals to take care.
