Commissioners reviewed rough historical budget figures: parks-and-recreation expenditures were described as about $250,000 of an approximately $1,000,000 general fund, and pandemic-era and stimulus funds temporarily increased receipts to about $400,000. Commissioners suggested staff prepare program-level cost estimates to determine an appropriate fee structure and possible revenue opportunities, including small concessions or vendor activity during peak recreational periods.
The commission agreed to place the pickleball program and a cost-recovery review on a future agenda for staff to prepare the necessary data and proposals.
