Board keeps most student fees unchanged, recommends 10% cut to computing fee

The University of Utah Board of Trustees approved the proposed student fee package for 2026–27 with most fees maintained and an administration recommendation to lower the computing fee by about 10%.
CFO Tony Wagner told trustees, "We are actually recommending an approximately 10% reduction in the computing computing fee." He said the recommendation followed an analysis of current expenditures and available reserve funds on the student fee advisory board, which is co-chaired by ASUU president Alex Rose and AVP for budget and finance Kimmy Adamson.
ASUU president Alex Rose, who co-chairs the student fee advisory board, said the board largely supported holding most fees steady after substantial changes the previous year and that the computing-fee reduction had strong student backing. "In my recommendation, it kinda dives further in why the computing fee we as a board felt like should be decreased just a little bit, and that had a lot of student backing with it as well," Rose said, and added that he would circulate a PDF recommendation for trustees to review.
Trustees moved and seconded approval of the student fees and, after an audible vote, the chair announced the motion passed. The transcript does not include a full roll-call enumeration of votes.
