Sheila Duke told Bronx Talk that the majority of Roads to Success’ funding comes from government sources and that the nonprofit is seeking to diversify revenue through corporate giving, foundations and individual donors.
Duke called fundraising “a hard sell” at times and said the organization relies on partnerships with city agencies and local leaders to sustain programming. She said Roads to Success currently serves Brooklyn, Bronx and Manhattan and is exploring expansion into Queens to deepen its impact.
The moderator and Duke discussed the difficulty of sustaining long-term workforce-development programming on unstable or limited government funding; Duke said foundations and corporate partners provide another path to sustain stipends, internships and out-of-state experiences like InvestFest.
Duke encouraged listeners to support the organization and to check Roads to Success’ website for information about volunteering, partnership and donations.
