The Douglass Township Board adopted Ordinance No. 2026-02, an amendment to Chapter 187 (Peddling and Soliciting) that creates a Do-Not-Solicit registry and confirms that property owners may post legible 'No Solicitors' or 'No Solicitations' signs.
Solicitor Wendy McKenna explained that residents may submit a written request to have their addresses placed on the Do-Not-Solicit Registry with the Township Police Secretary or register online as provided by the Township. Chief Robert Evans described enforcement steps: officers will first check whether solicitors hold solicitation permits, and if not, solicitors will be asked to leave or may be fined under the ordinance. Resident Ms. Wills said that even in neighborhoods where 'No Solicitors' signs are posted, solicitors still come onto properties.
The motion to approve Ordinance #2026-02 passed with votes Bergstresser-Aye, Stouch-Aye, Carpenter-Aye.
