PA Rep. Donna Scheuren (147th District) presented Douglass Township with a $150,000 Local Share Account (LSA) grant intended to fund phase one of the administration building renovation.
The Board immediately took action on next steps: Solicitor Wendy McKenna requested authorization to advertise for bids on the renovation project, and a motion to authorize advertising passed unanimously (Bergstresser-Aye, Stouch-Aye, Carpenter-Aye). Manager David Thompson and Engineer Khal Hassan were listed among meeting attendees and will be involved in project planning and bidding steps.
The presentation included a public-service recognition for longtime township tax collector Rebecca Zern. "Ms. Zern thanked township staff, public, family, and her many friends in attendance this evening for all their support and kindness throughout her forty years of service as Tax Collector for Douglass Township," the minutes say. (Note: the minutes include one inconsistent reference to Zern's start year elsewhere in the record; see audit.)
The board made no immediate appropriation beyond authorizing the solicitation of bids; further administrative and budget steps were not specified at the meeting.
