Town Clerk Ms. Dango briefed the Selectboard on guidance she had received suggesting Justices of the Peace might need Selectboard or legislative approval before being printed on ballots.
Ms. Dango said she had attempted to reach the Secretary of State's Office for clarification but had not received a reply. Dr. Murray and others suggested it would be out of order for the board to act without clear guidance. John Broker Campbell confirmed neighboring Hartland had not received similar communication. The board decided not to proceed until the Secretary of State provides confirmation.
The board took no formal action beyond determining it was not appropriate to move forward without written guidance from the SOS.
