Offshore powerboat races curtailed by rough weather; staff praised for Grand Prix support

Board members discussed recent weekend events at the Aug. 3 meeting. Frank said the offshore powerboat race ran in part Saturday but that Sunday’s races were canceled because weather conditions made it unsafe for safety boats to hold position; he reported no injuries.
"Sunday's races ended up getting canceled because it was actually rougher Sunday than it was Saturday," Frank said, explaining that when staff and safety boats cannot hold position, races are not run. Later in the meeting a board member and a meeting participant thanked Port staff for their support of the Super Bowl Grand Prix and complimented the Marina's cleanliness.
The board did not identify any follow-up operational changes; members offered public praise for staff efforts on the weekend event.
