Port attorney Zach reported a legal update at the Aug. 3 meeting: the yacht club named in a declaratory-judgment action was served on July 24 and must answer or otherwise plead by Aug. 13.
"The yacht club in the declaratory judgment action was served, July 24, and that means they have to answer or otherwise plead by August 13," Zach said. He added that he and the harbor master, Mister Cypress, planned to meet with representatives from the sailing club Friday morning to try to resolve issues related to a proposed lease; the attorney said they would report back to the board after that meeting.
The board received no further legal detail in the public record at this meeting; Zach characterized the update as brief and noted next steps for staff and counsel to negotiate with the sailing club.
