On May 20 the Jefferson County Planning & Zoning Commission approved CUP26-0001, allowing Romney Hedelius to operate outdoor storage for a maximum of 35 recreational vehicles on parcel RP04N38E021536, subject to conditions recorded in the staff report and additional conditions set by the commission. The permit prohibits on-site repairs and requires customers to empty waste tanks prior to storage; proposed hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
Neighbors raised concerns about traffic speed on the gravel road, potential rock-throw hazards from vehicle movement, fire risk from RV batteries, and the need for a locked gate and screening fence. Jaqueline Wilson, presenting for the applicant, said security cameras and a gate are planned and estimated a 90–120 day timeframe for installation after initial dirt work; she said cameras and gate would be priority improvements and that the applicant would not operate until security measures were in place. The commission required the nine staff conditions, emphasized automatic gate locking and hours of operation, waived screening for 24 months with screening to be required thereafter if necessary, and added an annual review to discuss fencing and operation impacts.
