Gabe Smalt, director of the Office for the Aging, asked the committee to authorize three contract amendments and to accept two additional state allocations to expand aging services.
Smalt requested a $5,000 increase to the Home Instead EISEP contract, a $6,000 increase to Home Instead’s respite contract, and an increase of about $1,650 to the dietician contract with Leslie Elliott (the transcript shows a staff figure around $1,650). The committee approved the contract amendments by voice vote. Smalt also requested acceptance of a $15,000 allocation from the New York State Office for the Aging for the county’s Ramp program and an $8,018 increase for the RSVP program. Jack K. Wheeler complimented the Ramp program for its partnership with GST BOCES and noted that NYSOFA representatives attended a local volunteer recognition event. All motions carried 4-0.
Why it matters: the funds and contract adjustments were presented as incremental increases to support home-based and volunteer aging services; officials said the ramp program expansion grew out of demonstrated partnership successes.
What’s next: directors were authorized to execute the contract amendments and accept state funds; no additional conditions or follow-up dates were recorded in the minutes.
