Lyon County approves $16,200 pilot to automate 18,000 non-emergency dispatch calls

The Lyon County Commission on Aug. 21 approved a four‑month pilot with Hyper to automate 10 categories of non-emergency calls handled by the Lyon County Emergency Communications Center (LCECC).
Roxy Van Gundy, director of LCECC, told commissioners that "This is approximately around 18,000 calls." The pilot will cost $16,200 and will be charged to Dispatch Contractual Services fund 010-28-7600; Van Gundy said Hyper is waiving a $20,000 implementation fee and LCECC would report back to the Commission if the pilot proves successful.
The motion to approve the pilot passed 3-0. Commissioners asked staff to return with results and recommendations if the automation reduces call-handling time or improves dispatch response for higher-priority calls.
