Tenafly council to revisit tree ordinance after finding state model 'weak'

Councilmember Lauren Dayton said she found the state model ‘‘rather weak’’ and criticized the hearing process as onerous; she asked for clearer guidelines and mitigation language to be added. Councilmember Dr. Julie O’ Connor asked for a draft to be presented again under 'to be considered.' Mayor Mark Zinna said residents were finding ways to act without permits, and directed Mr. Fanslau to return to another council meeting with a list of suggested changes. The attorney agreed to provide a redlined draft for council review.
