Hales Sand and Gravel wins $4.15 million bid for Skutumpah and Johnson Canyon road projects

The Kane County Board of Commissioners unanimously accepted a low bid from Hales Sand and Gravel of $4,151,363.40 for reconstruction work on 2.5 miles of Skutumpah Road and a full reclamation and paving of Johnson Canyon Road. County staff told the board that funding will combine a $1.7 million UDOT grant, tourism-related TRT funds, and prior-year surplus funds to support the work, with a total not-to-exceed amount of $5,015,991.40 for both projects.
“Motion to accept the bid award for Skutumpah and Johnson Canyon Road Reconstruction Projects going to Hales Sand and Gravel in the amount presented made by Commissioner Meyeres and motion carried with all commissioners present voting in favor,” the minutes state. Commissioner Celeste Meyeres made the motion and the board voted unanimously to proceed.
