The Rockwall City Council approved a variance to the city sign ordinance allowing a projection sign for HG Supply at 2651 Sunset Ridge that exceeds size and projection limits in the city—s code.
City staff member Craig Foshee explained the code allows projection signs up to 12 square feet and 4 feet projection height; the applicant requested a projection sign approximately 12 feet by 12 feet (144 square feet) with a vertical projection near 14 feet above the building. Foshee said Elias Pope submitted a letter explaining visibility constraints posed by adjacent buildings and that the applicant would provide a rooftop presence and visual identity for the business. The council approved the variance by unanimous vote.
The applicant said he was "praying for CO in October, opening in November, early." Council members asked about visibility and signage placement; staff confirmed notices and outreach had been completed. The ordinance granting the variance includes the standard enforcement provision for fines of up to $2,000 per offense.
