Manistee Land Bank authorizes investigation of up to three demolitions using Round 3 funds

The Manistee County Land Bank Authority authorized staff to investigate and pursue up to two or three demolition projects using remaining Round 3 Blight Elimination Program funds, subject to feasibility. The motion, made by Gary Buren and supported by Duane Jones, carried in a roll-call vote with four yeas and one absence (Mitch Deisch).
During discussion staff highlighted 267 Third Street as a candidate that is currently in probate, and members considered acquisition logistics, probate timelines, zoning, redevelopment feasibility, and compliance with grant deadlines. The motion directs Chair Rachel Nelson and Project Manager Katie Gruenberg to proceed with feasibility steps and report back to the Authority.
