Claymont City Board elects Solomon Peters president; Martha Campbell named vice president

The Claymont City Board of Education elected Solomon Peters as its 2026 board president and Martha Campbell as vice president at its organizational meeting on Jan. 12, 2026. The board administered oaths to newly elected members and sworn-in officers during the meeting at the Administrative Office.
Mrs. Host moved and Ms. Campbell seconded the motion to elect Solomon Peters as president; on roll-call the board recorded votes of Mrs. Host "yes," Ms. Campbell "yes," Mrs. Grandison "yes," Mr. Peters "abstain," and Mrs. Wolf "yes," and the motion carried. Treasurer Kim Beckley administered the Oath of Office to Solomon Peters. For vice president, Mrs. Grandison moved and Mrs. Wolf seconded the motion to elect Martha Campbell; the roll-call vote was unanimous and Beckley administered the oath to Campbell.
The elections followed procedural nominations earlier in the meeting. The new leadership will preside over the board's regular 2026 meetings and serve on the committees and commissions approved later in the session.
