PDC denies Michael Alperin’s request to withhold residence and financial details

The Commission denied a request from Michael Alperin to exempt his income, residence and asset information from disclosure, finding that public records and filings revealed the same details Alperin sought to hide.
Tabitha presented the request on behalf of the candidate, saying Alperin raised safety concerns and would recuse himself from conflicts if elected. Staff told the Commission that reporting alternatives (including residential-address alternatives under WAC 390-24-200) had been explained to Alperin.
Chair Jay Leach said a review of San Juan County records showed a deed of trust listing Alperin’s street address, his LLC registration with the Washington Secretary of State listed the same street address, and Redfin contained interior photos of the house from when he purchased it. Leach also noted that Alperin's F-1 filing listed a bank and contained "a number of affirmative misstatements." Regarding those facts, Leach said: "Granting his request would completely frustrate the purposes of the Public Disclosure Act," and denied the request.
The Commission recorded that the filing date for Alperin’s registration was 2025-05-05. The denial was entered from the bench; no roll-call vote was recorded in the hearing transcript.
