Fire & EMS Chief Dan Stitzel reintroduced Dr. Mark Gephardt as the City's EMS Medical Director during the July 20 meeting. Stitzel said Dr. Gephardt, who previously served as Medical Director beginning in 2013 and succeeds Dr. Singh, will assist the Division in implementing expanded trauma capabilities, ultrasound technology, and blood therapy resources.
Dr. Gephardt briefly shared his background, including service in the U.S. Army Reserve, and commended the SR 123 roundabout for reducing serious crashes near schools and recreational areas and preventing injuries that would require trauma-center treatment. The presentation was informational; Council did not take formal action on EMS operations at this meeting.
