Council approves National Night Out plans and Summit Academy pickleball fundraiser

The Menomonie City Council approved two community special events at its July 20 meeting. Council approved the Menomonie Police Department's National Night Out for Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, to be held in Wilson Park, on Wilson Avenue and 8th Street East. The motion was made by Councilmember Schlough, seconded by Councilmember Pickard, and carried unanimously.
The council also unanimously approved Summit Academy's Paddle for a Purpose Pickleball Tournament for Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at the twelve Wakanda Pickleball Courts including the tennis court. Councilmember Hargrove moved the item, Councilmember Erdman seconded, and the motion carried without opposition. Both approvals were recorded as routine special event authorizations in the minutes.
Organizers should follow any event-specific permitting and coordination with Public Works and police for logistics and safety; the minutes do not record special conditions or additional requirements.
