Manistee County staff presented proposed ballot language from the Manistee County Council on Aging for a renewal millage to fund services for older residents; the COA planned to vote on the final verbiage at its March 17 meeting and promised to supply the County with the approved resolution once completed.
The committee recorded a motion to recommend approval of the ballot-proposal language pending the COA's approval. The minutes note: "Moved by Schmidt, seconded by Gustad to recommend approval of the Council on Aging Ballot Proposal language pending approval of the Resolution by the Manistee Council on Aging Board. Ayes: All. Absent: Dontz Motion Carried." Appendix E in the packet contains the proposed ballot language, which describes a 0.4750-mill renewal for six years (2027–2032) to fund services through the Council on Aging and includes explanatory text for the August ballot.
