The Leilani Community Association board voted unanimously to use Election Buddy as its vendor for the 2026 election, following membership-approved bylaw changes that permit electronic communications and electronic voting.
Speaker 12 told attendees the membership vote had passed overwhelmingly: “We achieved quorum. 91% of the people voting voted to approve electronic communications and electronic voting.” The changes allow member motions to be included in the election package and establish an annual schedule that includes an October 25 members meeting and a December 30 nominations deadline.
The election committee presented tests showing the platform allows quick voting by phone or computer; paper ballots will still be provided for residents without digital access. The board moved, seconded and recorded a unanimous vote in favor of contracting Election Buddy. The board emphasized the membership list must be cleaned before ballots are distributed; staff volunteers have been cross-checking tax records and mailing returns to reduce errors.
The next steps: finalize the contract with the vendor, post the nomination form online and in the longhouse, and prepare the election packet for distribution to members by the announced dates.
