Trustees approve partnership with Ute Pass Elementary for Leave No Trace education

Miles Groth, a teacher at Ute Pass Elementary, described the school's Leave No Trace youth program certification and asked the board to approve a partnership so students and land managers can pursue a Leave No Trace gold standard designation for local trails. Trustees discussed the form such a partnership would take, including a possible MOU with the school district and land managers. Trustee (speaker 1) moved that the town enter into a partnership with Ute Pass Elementary (6th grade) and PPRTA; Trustee (speaker 2) seconded and the motion carried. Miles Groth said there is no specific financial request at this time and that work would start with an assessment and coordinated trail stewardship.
