Claymont Board adopts policies on artificial intelligence, NIL rights and school food purchases

The Claymont City Board of Education approved several policy updates and new policies at its March 9 meeting. The motion included adoption of Policy 6.08 (Artificial Intelligence), Policy 7.38 (NIL/Personal Branding Rights, new) and Policy 8.26 (Prohibition Against Purchase of Certain Foods, new). The board also approved updates to policy 1.03 (Formulations, Amendment, Dissemination, and Updates of Policies) and 1.15 (Board of Education Meetings), and approved academic acceleration policy 6.01. Policies 9.22 (Loss of Driving Privileges) and 9.27 (Prohibition and Reporting of Sexual Abuse) were rescinded as part of the action.
Board members voted to approve the set of policy changes as presented. The board did not provide extended discussion of each policy in the public minutes; the actions were recorded as part of the superintendent's recommendations and carried on roll call.
