During public comment, resident Keith Wilkinson raised concerns about the chemical treatment applied to dirt roads, saying he understands it is intended to reduce dust "but he is concerned about corrosion to vehicles." Wilkinson asked the Board to review the product and its effects.
Town Administrator Mari Enoch said she had asked Chuck (Highway foreman) about the materials used and that the Highway Department tries to source the most environmentally safe options available; she added that unless calcium is added to the road they can lose about 3 inches of gravel every year, according to the Highway foreman’s explanation. The Select Board agreed to ask the Highway Department to address the complaint.
