The Planning Commission approved a site-plan amendment for Gremelaw Church that authorizes a roughly 5,000-square-foot building addition at 8457 Highland Road in Hartland.
Planner Troy described the site off US-23 and M-59 and pointed to the proposed addition on the submitted plans, saying, "It's about 5,000 square feet, for, the church." According to the staff memorandum dated March 19, the project will add three classrooms, two restrooms and storage space without increasing staff or parking needs; exterior materials and landscaping will match the existing building. Staff also noted a rooftop HVAC unit will be screened by a parapet wall and that an existing black aluminum fence will be relocated from the west side to the north to enclose a new playground area.
Joe Amini, campus pastor at the Hartland campus and the project's agent and construction manager, told the commission the applicant had no further comments and would be available to answer questions. Commissioner Grissom moved to approve site-plan application 26-004; Commissioner Murphy seconded and the motion carried on a voice vote. Commissioner Ekman was recorded as absent during roll call.
The approval amends the previously approved preliminary planned-development site plan for the church and allows the applicant to proceed with building permit coordination and construction scheduling under the terms outlined in the staff memorandum.
