A caller on Zoom raised questions about funding sufficiency for a library basement project and whether the city should proceed with design work. City staff explained the $10,000 request to add scope for engineering estimates related to heating, air, and bathrooms so the city can prepare a cost estimate and decide whether to proceed.
Assistant City staff explained this additional amount would allow the consultant Nolan Tam to finalize design adjustments and provide an engineer—stimate. City Librarian (Miss Baker) said she had nothing further to add beyond staff explanation. Council moved to approve the additional services request for the library basement design and the motion passed on a recorded roll call with all members voting yes.
Staff said the expanded scope will include bathroom planning and a cost estimate; the council was clear that further decisions on construction would be made only after staff returns with cost estimates and recommendations.
