Resident warns council against moving Braddock Cannon out of Little England historic district

Marks said the cannon has been at its site since 1916 and noted wording on the plaque matches the Little England Historical District listing; she said moving the cannon to the corner shown in documentation could place it outside the historic-district boundary. "You do not have the right to give it to a private entity," Marks said, and she asked the council to amend city code or take whatever steps are necessary to prevent city employees from disposing of treasured public assets without first asking the public.
The comment raised questions about deed status if the cannon is moved onto private property; no council action was taken at the meeting on the cannon.
