The Planning and Transportation Commission unanimously approved a conditional‑use permit for PlayHub Inc. to open a 6,500‑square‑foot children’s arcade and play space at the Mission Foothill Shopping Center.
Staff explained that the applicant proposed hours of 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on most days with an option in conditions to extend to 8:30 p.m. on weekends and certain holidays; staff used the health/fitness parking standard (1 space per 150 sq. ft.) for analysis and said the submitted parking summary demonstrates adequate spaces. The application targets children ages 9 and under and includes accommodations for children with special needs, two party rooms and a lobby area.
Applicant Mohin Mazamian described operational controls intended to manage safety and capacity, including two‑hour reservation time slots, registration on entry to confirm age, a separated toddler play area and staffing to monitor age‑appropriate zones. “We started visiting numerous of these places…we came with the idea of having a better, higher quality of play space for our kids in our community,” Mazamian said. Commissioners asked about staffing levels, party‑room food handling and accessibility; Mazamian said restrooms are ADA‑compliant, parties will bring food (no kitchen or refrigeration on site) and the operation will scale staffing as business requires. The permit passed unanimously.
