The Augusta Planning Commission took several formal actions and forwarded recommendations to the Augusta Commission on Aug. 18, 2026, for final action where required.
SE26-12 (927 Molly Pond Road, special exception for a solid-waste transfer station): Staff recommended approval with six conditions including landfill routing and no outdoor overnight storage; after public comment and questions about leachate and odor the commission’s motion to approve failed on roll call and the commission voted to recommend denial. The recommendation to deny will be sent to the Augusta Commission for final determination on Aug. 18, 2026.
Z26-11 (3705 Benchmark Drive, rezoning to LI for a fence-supply business): Staff recommended approval with five conditions (outdoor storage screening, downward lighting, 20-foot undisturbed street yard with trees, site-plan approval, compliance with local standards); the petitioner accepted the conditions and the commission forwarded the recommendation to the Augusta Commission.
Z26-13 (2364 Gordon Highway, rezoning for RV/boat storage): Staff initially proposed LI but amended recommendation to B-2 (general business) with eight conditions that limit oversized vehicles, require screening and buffers, mandate security measures and compliance with dumpster-enclosure rules; petitioner agreed and the commission forwarded the B-2 recommendation to the Augusta Commission.
PDR-26-01 (1301 Broad Street, Queensborough National Bank exterior improvements): The commission granted concurrence after staff reported conditional agency approvals dated July 23, 2026.
These votes and referrals were recorded in the meeting minutes and will be transmitted to the Augusta Commission and relevant departments for follow-up and site-plan review where applicable.
