Resilient specialist seeks volunteers for Greenway cleanup and spring events

Steve Decatur, the city’s resilient specialist, briefed the council on a planned Greenway cleanup and volunteer needs. He said volunteers with pickup trucks are needed for the May 3 pickup day and that the cleanup schedule includes an April 28 pile-up prior to the May pickup.
"So far, right now, we have 16 residents, that we're going to do volunteer cleanup on... In total, we have 19 properties right now," Decatur said, asking residents who have trucks and time to contact him. He said volunteers would help collect green waste, and the event is being coordinated with the McConnell Foundation and the Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center.
Decatur also noted the cleanup logistics (site moving to the former parks and rec area pending demolition) and the schedule for volunteer shifts. Council encouraged outreach to secure more volunteers and thanked staff for organizing.
