Council adopts new architectural design and materials standards after 3–1 vote

David Pavlich, Community Development Director, presented Bill No. 37, an amendment to the municipal code (Section 405.682) to establish architectural design and building material standards for new commercial office, mixed‑use and industrial buildings and for substantial additions. "This code amendment would establish standards for building materials and building articulation for new commercial office, mixed use industrial buildings and then also buildings with substantial additions," Pavlich said.
Planning and Zoning recommended approval. On second reading the board approved the ordinance by a 3–1 roll call vote; Alderman Dan Holt cast the lone dissenting vote. The ordinance is recorded in the minutes as Ordinance No. 1670‑2026.
