Following a request for proposals and interviews, the council considered entering a legal services agreement with the firm of Richards, Watson & Gershon to serve as Dunsmuir's city attorney. City Manager Reif summarized the process and said the agreement contemplates 25 hours of general services under the retainer.
David Lim, a shareholder at RWG, introduced himself on Zoom and described his firm experience. "My name is David Lim. I'm a shareholder at the firm of Richards, Watson and Gershon," he said, noting he has 26 years' experience including 18 years as a deputy district attorney. Council members moved to approve the agreement; after a roll call vote the appointment was approved and RWG plans to begin work and meet with city staff the next day.
Council members said they valued RWG's combination of legal and municipal experience and expected a follow‑up meeting to scope near‑term tasks and transitions. No public objections were raised during the public comment period on this item.
