The clerk read a motion to convene a closed session "pursuant to Virginia Code sections 2.2 dash 3,711 1.1 and 0.3" to continue discussions on the performance of the city manager, city attorney and the city clerk, to discuss appointments listed on the agenda, and to consider acquisition of real property in the downtown and Tevis areas where open discussion could adversely affect the city's negotiating position. Council moved and seconded the motion and the vote was recorded as aye by the members present; the chair recessed the meeting and said the body would resume at 2:10 p.m. in the Community Development Conference Room.
The clerk recorded the time of recess as 1:56 p.m. and the council departed for the closed session. No additional actions or outcomes were disclosed in open session before the recess.
