City Clerk Ammie L. Bedient read the ordinance's operative language: "The City Council of Alliance, Nebraska shall conduct regular meetings during calendar year 2026 on the dates that are indicated on the attached proposed 2026 calendar at the hour of 5:30 o'clock P.M." Councilmembers then reached consensus and voted to adopt the ordinance after suspending the statutory rule requiring three separate readings.
Staff said the City posted a Facebook survey for 10 days; poll respondents favored moving meetings to either 5:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. Council members said earlier start times would encourage community engagement, and the change will take effect immediately upon publication.
