Hampton plans major science additions at Kecoughtan and Bethel high schools

Dr. Dan Bowling told council that the recently completed Kecoughtan High School science wing added more than 37,000 square feet and 18 classrooms. He also announced a planned 40,762 square‑foot science addition at Bethel High School, which the presentation scheduled to open in November 2026 and will house 19 new learning spaces and academy programming. "That addition was over 37,000 square feet and brought online 18 new classrooms," Bowling said of Kecoughtan, and he added the Bethel addition will expand the division's science capacity and academy offerings.
School staff said planning and budgeting are underway for additional summer 2026 projects that will support the new science wing at Bethel and further renovations at other high schools.
