Hampton City Schools says it completed 30+ summer projects: science rooms, media centers, tracks and roofs upgraded

Hampton City Schools presented a broad list of capital improvements carried out during the summer, telling City Council that the work touched classrooms, media centers, athletic fields and mechanical systems across the district.
Dr. Dan Bowling and John Cobley described renovation of science classrooms at Lindsey, Eaton and Tarrant middle schools (16 science classrooms plus additional prep rooms), remodeled media centers with new shelving and seating, repaired and repaved middle and high school tracks, four renovated high‑school athletic fields with new dugouts and wireless scoreboards, and over 258,000 square feet of roof replacements at multiple schools. "We also renovated the science classroom at 3 of our middle schools at Lindsay, Eaton and Tarrant," Bowling said, noting that many of the science rooms dated from original construction and required full modernization.
Tina Sanders said all media centers received new shelving and furnishings; the presentation cited 315 new bookshelves with capacity for over 60,000 books and 185 new soft seating options. School officials said many of the projects were designed to improve safety, accessibility and instructional flexibility and to deliver visible evidence of the city’s capital investments.
