During the public comment period, Pauline Antometay urged the council to consider the concentration of vape shops in Buckroe Beach and other nearby neighborhoods and expressed concern about density close to tourist areas. Antometay said she would prefer to see no vape shops in the area but recognized the council could not dictate private business operations; she thanked the council for addressing vape-shop regulation on the consent agenda.
"I personally would not like to see them at all," Antometay said, noting the shops' proximity to public tourist areas in Buckroe Beach and asking the council to consider neighboring communities when deciding on density and location rules.
The council had placed regulation of tobacco and hemp product sale locations on the consent agenda and approved the consent agenda earlier in the meeting.
