Rashida Jones, speaking for the Black Coalition for Housing, said the housing pillar prepared four advocacy positions and is working with a consultant to overlay executive order impacts on the local housing landscape. She announced a Black Developers Housing Summit scheduled for March 26–28, 2025 at the Renaissance Center.
Jones said the summit will include a "day in the life of the developer" session and private roundtables for municipal leaders, lenders and community stakeholders. She also confirmed a developers academy pilot to train an emerging cohort of 20 developers with a goal to onboard 12 to 18 single-family housing units by the end of the cohort cycle.
On receiverships, Jones said the pillar is organizing a three-day training in June 2025, working with local attorneys and the University of Memphis clinic to explore receivership as a blight-elimination tool in Shelby County.
