Black business directory to relaunch in February with free listings and paid upgrades

Ernest Strickland told the committee that a new Black Business Directory portal will deploy in February, using partner databases (including a pledge from the Memphis Business Journal) and allowing businesses to add or claim listings.
"It's going to be in the month of February," Strickland said when asked about a launch window. He said the directory will offer a free basic listing and optional paid 'upsell' features as a revenue stream to help maintain the portal and potentially fund a printed ceremonial hard copy.
Committee members recommended coordinating a press launch during mid-February Black History programming and asked staff to circulate dates and marketing materials so commissioners and council members could be invited.
