Ernest Strickland presented the workforce subcommittee's recommendations, emphasizing two objectives: recruit individuals from targeted high-priority ZIP codes and develop training and recruitment plans tied to the Regional 1 project. "The workforce committee...was tasked with looking at training and development and recruitment from the targeted ZIP codes," Strickland said.
Strickland and others recommended coordinating with community connectors, local colleges, technical centers and trade organizations to build training pipelines that can produce both short-term credentialing opportunities and longer apprenticeships. Committee members said subcommittees should meet to identify actionable steps and to decide what to do with the information provided by Griffin & Strong and the capacity study; Janice Banks requested delivery of the workforce report by email for committee members to review.
