Council proclaims Sept. 17–23 Constitution Week after DAR presentation

Representatives from the Jacob's Well Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution attended the Sept. 8 council meeting to request a proclamation designating Sept. 17–23 as Constitution Week. Gail Wiedich, representing the chapter, described the DAR as a nonpolitical service organization dedicated to historic preservation, patriotism and education.
"My name is Gail Wiedich, and, I, I'm honored to represent the, Jacob's Well Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution," Wiedich said, and she asked the council to recognize the week and encourage residents to read and reflect on the U.S. Constitution and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence next year. A council member moved to declare the week, the motion was seconded, and the council voted in favor; the mayor offered to sign a copy for the chapter.
