Council emphasized targeted road funding in explaining the budget. "Our budget, we made it $250,000 to improve the roads of the city," the mayor said, describing the engineering work planned to prioritize street repairs. Finance staff told the council that July operating results showed expenses exceeding revenues year to date by about $69,000 but noted that the capital reclassification for Well Number 3 will shift some costs out of operating accounts.
The council reviewed a July financial snapshot that reported approximately $1,868,000 on deposit across city accounts and noted water revenues were higher than last year by roughly $47,000 while interest income had declined by about $14,000 year over year. Councilors said hiring an engineer for planned projects will be required before grant-funded work begins. No further public testimony was recorded before the motion to adopt was carried.
