Director Dennis Burke described a proposed shared-service agreement in which the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner's Office would provide forensic pathology services for Union County. Burke said the current county medical examiner is retiring effective August 1 and the regional office would assume services for the entire county upon board adoption of the resolution.
Burke told commissioners the county will become one of five counties served by the Northern Regional Medical Examiner's Office, alongside Passaic, Hudson, Essex and Somerset. The board asked no further questions during the agenda-setting discussion; any formal approval would occur in the regular meeting when the resolution is introduced.
