Council highlights Main Street business openings and new lighting improvements

Council members welcomed new Main Street businesses and reported positive community response to recently installed northern Main Street lighting, which council members said improves safety and the corridor’s appearance.
Council members used their reports on Feb. 4 to highlight business activity and streetscape improvements on Main Street.
Council Member Heidi Robinson welcomed new business Cactus and Tropicals to Main Street and encouraged residents to visit and to try Bambinos pizza next door. Mayor Dustin Gettel said other cities have noticed Midvale’s Main Street work and said the city will host a “Meet the Mayor” event at Two Row Brewing on Feb. 5 from 6–9 p.m.
Council Member Bryant Brown said he has received “so many positive notes” about new northern Main Street lighting and that the fixtures make the corridor feel more inviting and safer. Brown suggested exploring an iron overhead sign reading “Welcome to the city” to tie the streetscape together; the council discussed coordinating any lighting work with upcoming business grand openings.
